AN EFFICIENT METHOD TO UPGRADE THE COLOR RENDERING INDEX OF PHOSPHOR-CONVERTED WHITE LIGHT EMITTING DIODES AT CORRELATED COLOR TEMPERATURE 5500 KPages 159-164
Abstract
We reported an efficient solution to upgrade the color rendering index of white LED by mixing with the red light composition. The improving of CRI properties of white light at the correlated color temperature (CCT) of 5500 K is conducted by adding the red light emission band into the initial white light spectrum. Results show that the CRI value is changed depending on the added red light content. The highest CRI value of 95 is obtained, which showed a significant improvement compared to the initial value of 78. In addition, the adding red light is also to increase the output luminous flux for white light. The CCT value, chromaticity coordinates, and Duv are as a functions of added red-light. The obtained result indicated that red LED mixed with pcW-LEDs is an efficient option that helps to improve the color quality and luminous efficiency of white LED.
